{"id":1362,"date":"2025-05-05T11:56:21","date_gmt":"2025-05-05T03:56:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wematterglobal.com\/?p=1362"},"modified":"2025-05-05T11:56:21","modified_gmt":"2025-05-05T03:56:21","slug":"why-co-responsibility-alone-isnt-enough-rethinking-leadership-for-equity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wematterglobal.com\/es\/why-co-responsibility-alone-isnt-enough-rethinking-leadership-for-equity\/","title":{"rendered":"Del simbolismo al redise\u00f1o sist\u00e9mico: Por qu\u00e9 no basta con la corresponsabilidad"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"et_pb_section et_section_transparent\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_row\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_column et_pb_column_4_4\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text\">\n<h1>Recently, I came across a LinkedIn post by Alejandro Moreno-Salamanca, an IESE professor, that highlighted an essential truth: sustainable female leadership requires <strong>co-responsibility<\/strong>.<\/h1>\n<p>As someone deeply committed to the empowerment of women on the move\u2014migrant women navigating life transitions, motherhood, work, study, and identity\u2014I welcomed this framing. It recognises that leadership doesn\u2019t exist in a vacuum; it\u2019s shaped by the environments we move through, from our homes to our workplaces and communities.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Yes, co-responsibility is vital &#8211;<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>&#8230;both in the domestic sphere and in the workplace. We need to normalize fathers taking the child to the pediatrician, male partners showing up fully at home, and men sharing the emotional and logistical labor historically placed on women. But if we stop there, we risk mistaking shared chores for systemic change.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>True equity goes beyond partnership at home.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>It requires bold, systemic redesign in public and private sectors. It\u2019s not only about promoting women into positions of power\u2014it\u2019s also about interrogating and dismantling the systems that define power, success, and leadership in our societies.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h4>At WEMatter, I work closely with women whose leadership potential often remains invisible in traditional metrics.<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Migrant women<\/strong>\u2014<em>highly skilled, experienced, and highly educated<\/em>\u2014I call them <em>women on the move<\/em> because they not only move across cities and countries; they move barriers and perceptions. Many are women of colour. Some are raising families alone. Some left established careers behind to cross borders. They are too often overlooked in mainstream conversations about leadership\u2014not because they lack skill or drive, but because <strong>the systems they enter weren\u2019t built with their realities in mind.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>So yes, let\u2019s talk about co-responsibility. But let\u2019s also talk about:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Intersectional leadership<\/strong> that acknowledges the layers of identity\u2014gender, race, migrant status, motherhood\u2014that impact a woman\u2019s path.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Policy changes<\/strong> that recognise unpaid labour, diversity, and inclusion as non-negotiable pillars of thriving economies and societies.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leadership frameworks<\/strong> that centre around diversity, inclusion, justice, dignity, and care as key values in a world undergoing deep transformation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5>We don\u2019t just want seats at the table. <strong>We want to reshape the table itself\u2014and invite more people in.<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Co-responsibility is a start.<\/strong> But it must be coupled with systemic intention and cultural courage to build a more inclusive, humane future\u2014for all of us on the move.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, I came across a LinkedIn post by Alejandro Moreno-Salamanca, an IESE professor, that highlighted an essential truth: sustainable female leadership requires co-responsibility.
